Amazing views of the Pyrenees

The apartments are set in the heart of the Navarre Pyrenees, at the foot of the N-135 main road marking the start of the Way of St James as it passes through Navarra, in the Valley and Town of LUZAIDE-VALCARLOS, where trout are prevalent in the cold, crystal clear waters of the river Luzaide, forming a natural border between Spain and France. What is known as the French Way crosses through LUZAIDE-VALCARLOS in the stage from St Jean Pied de Port to Roncesvalles. Since medieval times, a large number of pilgrims have passed through the town in their journey to Santiago de Compostela.

For the main route crossing the Pyrenees, two options are available: Both pass through Luzaide-Valcarlos:

  • The Low Road or mountain pass, that goes up to Ibañeta along the valley.
  • The High Road: leaving Donibane-Garazi/St Jean de Pied de Port, (with another branch from Saint-Michel-le-Vieux) and with a steep climb during the first kilometres of the pass, going up to Astobizkar and then down to Orreaga-Roncesvalles.
